- Vacant site of 142m2 with existing 2m high pailing fence to street front. Demolish existing front fence.
- Proposed building mass across the entire site. Split building into two for a two storey residence.
- Set ground floor at the front of the site and excavate the natural rise to the rear in order to bring overall height of building down.
- Setback building mass from street to match northern neighbour and at the rear to provide a light courtyard for the residence.
- Set ground level on York St to match properties on both sides and provide P.O.S at the front for the residence.
- Setback building mass from south boundary to minimize overshadowing to adjoining properties and reduce visual bulk.
- The central mass of the building is then cut up with windows to breakup the size of the residence.
- The contrasting use of materials coupled with an articulation of form, results in a visually pleasing and sensitive architectural response.

Envisioned as a functional yet classically sleek multigenerational home, York Street House features 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. With a view to optimising space through thoughtful design, this property takes the suburban home and updates it to fit a modern metropolitan context. In addition to the open plan kitchen and living room, the property extends the living space to an external courtyard area ideal for hosting guests or enjoying breakfast in the morning sun.
This blending of the outer space with the indoors is further complemented by the striking north-facing windows.
